I discovered an interesting act - data dumped as XML from Django/PostgreSQL/XP is not compatible with Django/PostgreSQL/CentOS. When I tried to load the data, I got an integrity error. On the other hand, data dumped as YAML worked fine - loaded into the website with no peep of complaint. The end result is that the server now has the data I want. Needs further investigation.
